Defining Moments Project
MBD started an outreach movement called The Defining Moments Project and we’re in the early stages of its implementation.The Inspiration:
There needs to be a call to action to assist those people who do not know about opportunities. Their several concerns are valid and somewhat different. We have worked hard to talk to these individuals and find out more about their pain points. Those concerns include how feasible it is to live in the city. These people do not know how they are going to make ends meet. They don’t know they can be a laborers making $35.00 an hour on a job in downtown Seattle.Description:
The Defining Moments Projects is the initiative that assists communities by helping individuals find a way to create a career, not a job. The initiative assists in the education and career cultivation of someone from a diverse background. Through the work of the Community, Public Officials, Prime Contractors, and Labor Unions, we can positively affect the change within our community, one individual at a time.

- Discouragement

- Falling Back into “Familiar” Ways

How MBD Can Help
We recognize what’s happening and seek to help by offering a pathway out through a career in the trades.
Through our Defining Moments System these individuals will have the following opportunities:
- Attend a Pre-Apprenticeship Program to gain the necessary skills for workforce entry. If candidates do not already process the skill set, they can go to training right away.
- Work with open shops or smaller shops who can offer employment.
- Continued feedback and education to ensure on-going development of skills - all while earning a living.
